My sister( another uninformed republican voter) thinks that Biden is the sole proprietor of that crime bill. We were both born in the 70s and she knows the crime was on another level in the late 80s, we lived it, we lost many family and friends during this era. The bill was supported by most black people. The legislation was passed in good faith. The problem was we had too many racist cops, judges and prosecutors in which they used it as a racist opportunity to start the mass incarceration of black men. Some for crimes they didn't commit.

I don't think it the abortion issue is anything for Republicans to worry about. The real issue is will voters in red states demand that abortion restrictions be lifted and hold politicians accountable for reversing them. I think not. I think conservative red states will just continue to vote Republican even though a majority of them hate the restrictions simply because they think votiing for a Democrat is akin to voting for the devil himself. In the 3rd trimester, however? Only in the case of threat to the woman's life. Full stop. No late term abortions unless the mother's life is at risk. None.

Biden's administration threatened to pack the supreme court if they didn't repeal Roe v Wade. The SC bent to the pressure and in repealing RvW they gifted Biden a second term. Without the repeal the chances of Biden securing a second term were virtually non-existent. Now Biden can campaign on abortion rights and Dems can win midterms and the right has red meat to throw to their evangelical base (which they can use to fundrais off of). It's a win for both parties.
